Dollar Index Update as on 22 May 2020

The U.S. Dollar Index is trading at 99.73 up with +0.36% percent or +0.35 point.The Dow Futures is trading at 24,301.00 with a loss of -0.31% percent or -75.00 point.The S&P 500 Futures is trading at 2,927.88  with a loss of -0.31% percent or -9.12 point.The Nasdaq Futures is trading at 9,320.12 with a loss of -0.38% percent or -35.63 point.


The dollar gained against major peers on Friday as worries about rising diplomatic tensions between the United States and China supported safe-haven demand for the greenback.

Sino-U.S. relations have soured over a broad range of issues, including China’s treatment of the former British colony of Hong Kong and its response to the coronavirus pandemic, which is causing risk aversion to spread.


For the day the Dow is trading at 24,474.12 with a loss of -0.41% percent or -101.78 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,948.51 with a loss of –0.78% percent or -23.10 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 9,284.88  with a loss of -0.97% percent or -90.90 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,347.56 with 0.33% percent or 0.63 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 771.41 up with +0.021% percent or +0.16 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,694.18 up with +0.33% percent or +5.55 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,356.16 with a loss of –0.79% percent or -10.83 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,713.73 with a loss of –0.65% percent or -11.24 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,628.08  with a loss of  –0.69% or -11.39 point.
