Dollar Index Update on 27 March 2019

The U.S. Dollar Index is trading at 96.72  with a loss of -0.07% percent or -0.07 point. The Dow Futures is trading at 25,599.50  with a loss of -0.30% percent or -76.50 point. The S&P 500 Futures is trading at 2,817.12   with a loss of -0.21% percent or -5.88 point.  The Nasdaq Futures is trading at 7,368.62  with a loss of -0.06%  percent or -4.37 point.


The New Zealand dollar dropped 1.6 percent on Wednesday after the central bank flagged a possible cut in interest rates, becoming the latest set of policymakers to turn dovish.

The signal also weighed on the Australian dollar, which dropped half a percent.

“The market was taken by surprise by the dovish tone (of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand),” Thu Lan Nguyen, an analyst at Commerzbank said. “Most central banks have turned dovish. Even those that hiked interest rates did it with a very cautious outlook on rates.”


For the day the Dow is trading at 25,657.73  up with +0.55% percent or +140.90 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,818.46 up with +0.72% percent or +20.10 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,691.52 up with +0.71% percent or +53.98 point.


Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,528.17  up with +1.01% percent or +15.30 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 930.71 up with +0.91% percent or +8.39 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,876.53  up with +0.99%percent or +18.31 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,246.22 up with +0.73% percent or +8.99 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,660.60 up with +0.76% percent or +12.45 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,560.90  with a loss of 0.74% or +11.41 point
