Dollar Index Update on 21 August 2019

The U.S. Dollar Index is trading at 98.19 with a loss of -0.01% percent or -0.01 point. The Dow Futures is trading at 26,092.00 up with+0.62% percent or +161.00 point. The S&P 500 Futures is trading at 2,918.88 up with +0.67% percent or +19.37 point.  The Nasdaq Futures is trading at 7,726.50 up with  +0.76% percent or +58.50 point.


The euro struggled to make headway against a resilient dollar on Wednesday while foreign exchange markets remained largely calm ahead of a crucial meeting of central bankers later this week.

After markets rushed over the last two months to price in significant easing from central banks in the United States and Europe, the outlook for euro/dollar will depend largely on whether or not policymakers live up to those expectations.


For the day the Dow is trading at 25,962.44 with a loss of –0.66% percent or  –173.35  point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,900.51 with a loss of –0.79% percent or –23.14 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,948.56  with a loss of –0.68% percent or –54.25 point.


Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,498.01  with a loss of –0.72% percent or -10.84 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 920.86  with a loss of –0.91% percent or -8.50 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,876.30  with a loss of –0.81% percent or –15.41 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,280.77  with a loss of –0.81% percent or –10.52 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,702.47  with a loss of –0.76% percent or –12.99 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,605.48  with a loss of –0.76% or –12.30 point.
