Dollar Index Update on 14 March 2019

The U.S. Dollar Index is trading at 96.77 up with +0.31% percent or +0.30 point. The Dow Futures is trading at 25,721.50  with a loss of -0.18% percent or -47.50 point. The S&P 500 Futures is trading at 2,814.38 with a loss of -0.18% percent or -5.12 point.  The Nasdaq Futures is trading at 7,287.62 with a loss of -0.12%  percent or -8.88 point.


The Dollar Index measures the performance, or value, of the US Dollar versus a basket of foreign currencies. These are trading partners to the US and include the EuroJapanese YenBritish PoundCanadian Dollar, Swedish Krona and Swiss Franc.

Since it is an index, the USD index functions similarly to the FTSE 100 or NYSE but, instead of being a barometer for the health of the equity market, it shows the relative strength of the US Dollar. The index is maintained and published by Intercontinental Exchange Inc (ICE) and is calculated every 15 seconds.


For the day the Dow is trading at 25,702.89 with +0.58% percent or +148.23 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,810.92 up with +0.69% percent or +19.40 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,643.41 up with +0.69% percent or +52.37 point.


Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,555.88 up with +0.39% percent or +6.05 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 951.50 up with +0.36% percent or +3.46 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,895.54  up with +0.39% percent or +7.27 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,241.98  up with +0.73% percent or +9.04 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,660.25 up with +0.65% percent or +10.77 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,558.39 up with +0.67% percent or +10.42 point.
