Dollar Index Update on 07 June 2018


The U.S. Dollar Index is trading at 93.42 with a loss of –0.21% percent or  –0.20 point. The Dow Futures is trading at 25,267.00 up with +0.44% percent or 111.00 point. The S&P 500 Futures is trading at 2,771.75  a loss of with -0.80% percent or  -2,771.75 point.  The Nasdaq Futures is trading at 7,149.75  with a loss of  -1.23% percent or -89.25 point.


The central bank is widely expected to hike the federal funds rate 25 basis points in its latest move to normalize the easy monetary conditions introduced in the wake of the financial crisis.

Though markets saw a June hike as all but assured Thursday morning, debate remains over how aggressive Chair Jerome Powell and his colleagues should be throughout the rest of 2018.

While the latest report on nonfarm payrolls again revealed strong gains across the economy, some economists worry that the pace of inflation is not yet hot enough to warrant further increases to the cost of borrowing capital.


For the day the Dow is trading at 25,268.72 up with +0.49% percent or +122.33 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,774.05 up with  +0.061% percent or  +1.70 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,631.58 with a loss of –0.75% percent or  –57.67 point.

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,666.27  with a loss of –0.58% percent or –9.68point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 1,034.18 with a loss of –0.48% percent or –4.95 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,986.34 with a loss of –0.16% percent or –3.22 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,217.53 with a loss of –0.14% percent or –1.65 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,646.94  with  a loss of –0.26% percent or –4.32 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,536.39 with a loss of –0.24% percent or -3.69 point;
