The US Dollar Index are trading at 94.15 with a loss of -0.10% percent or -0.10 point. The cac 40 index are trading at 5,164.11 with a loss of –0.68% percent or -35.11 point . The DAX Index are trading at 12,351.84 with a loss of –0.77% percent or –95.41 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Index are trading at 3,477.32 with a loss of –0.63% percent or -22.17 point.
TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS
The dollar headed for weekly losses on Friday, wallowing at its lowest levels against the euro in nearly two years after what markets perceived as hawkish talk from European Central Bank chief Mario Draghi.
But the Australian dollar skidded against the greenback after contrastingly dovish comments from a Reserve Bank of Australia official.
The dollar index, which tracks the U.S. currency against a basket of six major rivals, was flat on the day at 94.322, not far from its overnight low of 94.090, its deepest nadir since August 2016. It was down 0.9 percent for the week.
U.S. market indexes were lower on Thursday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 21,611.78 with a loss of –0.13% percent or –28.97 point. The S&P 500 closed at 2,473.45 with a loss of – 0.02% percent or –0.38 point. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 6,390.00 for up with +0.08% percent or +4.96 point.
Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,442.35 for up with +0.04% percent or +0.58 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 872.27 for up with +0.04% percent or +0.32 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,778.61 for up with +0.10% percent or +1.84 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,089.26 with 0.00% percent or +0.05 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,465.78 with a loss of –0.02% percent or –0.24 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,370.71 with a loss of-0.02% percent or –0.29 point; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closed at 21,611.78 with a loss of –0.13% percent or –28.97 point.
