Dollar Index Update on 03 May 2019

The U.S. Dollar Index is trading at 97.99 up with  +0.16% percent or +0.16 point. The Dow Futures is trading at 26,332.50 up with +0.26% percent or +67.50 point. The S&P 500 Futures is trading at 2,925.88  up with +0.29% percent or +8.38 point.  The Nasdaq Futures is trading at 7,774.38 up with +0.52% percent or +40.13 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

Adding to the event risk, there are no less than eight Federal Reservepolicymakers speaking on Friday, including Fed New York President John Williams and Vice Chairman Richard Clarida.

The dollar has edged higher since Fed Chair Jerome Powell played down the recent slowing in inflation and saw no reason to cut interest rates.

That helped the dollar index recoup losses from earlier in the week to stand at 97.893 against a basket of currencies, up from a trough of 97.149.

PREVIOUS DAY ACTIVITY

For the day the Dow is trading at 26,307.79 with a loss of -0.46% percent or -122.35 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,917.52 with a loss of -0.21% percent or -6.21 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 8,036.77  wilth  a loss of -0.16% percent or -12.87 point.

WORLD MARKETS

Other leading market index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000 Index closed at 1,582.65 up with +0.40% percent or +6.27 point; the S&P 600 Small-Cap Index closed at 969.10 up with +0.24% percent or +2.34 point; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closed at 1,952.87 up with +0.21% percent or +4.00 point; the S&P 100 Index closed at 1,292.88  with a loss of -0.37% percent or -4.81 point; the Russell 3000 Index closed at 1,719.62  with a loss of -0.15% percent or -2.60 point; the Russell 1000 Index closed at 1,616.37   with a loss of -0.19% or -3.12 point.
